bFox News anchor Bret Baier––the moderator of tonight’s Democratic town hall on Fox News––said in an interview today that there are plenty of Republicans who would vote for Hillary Clinton if the alternative is Donald Trump.
Baier told TheWrap that many D.C. Republicans are already saying this privately. He said, “I think there are some who are that adamant about it who would.”
A few months ago, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough relayed the same message and said he was pretty shocked by it.
There are certainly Republicans who have already gone on record saying they absolutely cannot vote for The Donald, but none of them have actually said they would actively vote for Clinton––just that they would either abstain or look for other options.
Baier said that ultimately, the goal here is to find a nominee who can beat Clinton, and if Trump is the nominee, that’s who they end up rallying around.
He also talked about how they ended up getting Clinton to return on Fox News for the first time in two years tonight for the Michigan town hall. You can read the full interview here.
