Last year, Macy’s decided it would stop selling Donald Trump‘s products after he made racist comments about Mexicans, calling them “rapists” and drug dealers. Not known for his even temperament, the then GOP candidate took to Twitter to call on people to boycott the department store.

Now that Trump has won, Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren has said that the store still won’t sell his products. “We made our decision about a year and a half ago, and stand by our decision,” Lundgren TheStreet Thursday. “As I have said, we wouldn’t carry product from a political candidate — and now a politician — whether they be Republican or Democrat. If Hillary Clinton had a line of women’s suits or handbags I wouldn’t carry those either. I just think we don’t want to be a politically associated company, we sell to everybody at Macy’s and have a broad and diverse customer base.”
It’s possible that Trump’s strategy worked. Though it’s hard to say whether it’s because of him or not, in the time since Trump called for the boycott, Macy’s stocks have gone down by around 43%.
