Bradley Cooper is currently developing a miniseries for HBO about the rise of ISIS. It’s based on Black Flags: The Rise of ISIS, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Joby Warrick. Deadline first reported the news, and the Warrick Tweeted about it Thursday:
delighted to finally be able to make this news public:… https://t.co/VO7DEVS1nx

Black Flags tells the story of how ISIS came to be the most threatening terror organization on earth. It will also include the story of a small group of American agents tasked with trying to eliminate the group.
When Cooper read the story, he immediately was taken with it and imagined the series. He, Todd Phillips (who is co-executive producing the servies with Cooper), and Warrick all met and decided to collaborate. So far, there’s no word on whether Cooper also plans to act in the series or when it will come out. Cooper and Phillips’ movie War Dogs comes out August 19th.
