Flooded Louisiana Food Bank Will ‘Shake it Off’ Thanks to a $50,000 Donation From Taylor Swift
After floods in Louisiana killed 11 people and caused widespread damage, Taylor Swift is doing what she can to help out. The country singer donated $1 million to relief efforts according to People. $50,000 of that money went to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
Over six trillion gallons of water fell on Louisiana between August 8th and 14th. The Red Cross called it the worst natural disaster the United States has seen since Hurricane Sandy. The food bank’s warehouse was destroyed and according to First We Feast, 1 million pounds of food was lost.
The Food Bank posted an Instagram photo with the caption, “Today @taylorswift donated $50,000 to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank! The #laflood destroyed our warehouse but we are going to shake it off!”
A portion of her donation also went to the Salvation Army. The non-profit also Tweeted their thanks:

In a statement to the Associated Press, Swift said “We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking.”
