Kim Kardashian Gets Trolled Online After Being Robbed at Gunpoint; Chrissy Teigen Jumps to Her Defense
We get it, a lot of people don’t like Kim Kardashian. They don’t get what she’s famous for, or why she’s famous, they don’t understand what it is her job is. It’s been the same story since 2007. Nine years later, she’s still here. Hating on her because she’s famous and we don’t understand it has honestly gotten kind of boring.
Yesterday, she was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room. She was tied up, gagged, and she had $10 million worth of jewelry stolen from her. Upon hearing the news her husband Kanye West walked offstage while performing the song “Heartless” at a concert in New York. This sounds like a story where everyone would be on the same page and feel sympathy for Kardashian as a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and person. but this is 2016 and it’s the Internet, so nope.
People made jokes and memes about the robbery. One Twitter user said he was “surprised” the whole incident wasn’t captured on Snapchat. Others called it a publicity stunt, as though she needs to fake an armed robbery for publicity.
Should've shot her lmao #KimKardashian #KimK

James Corden defended her.
People making jokes about @KimKardashian tonight would do well to remember that she’s a mother,a daughter,a wife,a friend.Be nice or shut up

Piers Morgan, who pretty much never has anything nice to say about Kardashian also expressed his concern, which people then called “hypocritical.”
Sorry? I can’t object to her naked selfies but also feel sorry for her being robbed at gunpoint? Stop being ridiculous. https://t.co/r0hIqQzP8l

Leave it to Chrissy Teigen, though, to shut down the haters like a boss.
Some shit just isn’t funny. I see you trying, but it isn’t.

Fame is interesting. Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you’d make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
I call this the “short skirt” https://t.co/ooT3TrHKFg
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
I dunno. It’s hard to explain because everyone thinks money and fame is pure awesome, so it just sounds whiny. I get it, trust me. Go off.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
It is just a weird little world that I cannot expect anyone to get. I know it seems super awesome and laughable. I know.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
I myself think it is bonkers.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
Some Twitter users seem to think that because Kardashian is rich, she deserves to be robbed at gunpoint.
@chrissyteigen No one likes robbery at gunpoint. Then again should people feel sorry for someone who owns millions of $ in jewelry alone?

No one is begging you for sympathy. I know the game plan is to naturally hate celebrities https://t.co/EMHRslQKu6
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
I’m not trying to be condescending. I really do get it. I would be the same way if I didn’t have the random opportunity to see both sides.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
Please do not think that I think celebrities are special snowflakes. I just miss empathy, in general, for everyone.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
Not sure if it matters but I definitely used to get 3 dollars worth of gas at a time and “check into cash” all paydays https://t.co/FAw3JAPdSO
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
But I do. I really care if you like me or if I make you happy. https://t.co/f9MX2VmOWo
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
Anyhow, got away from my original point but I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for anyone. Just appreciate a solid convo on the tweeter.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
“Why don’t you speak about [insert random world issue]???” – I do. And my mentions are shit then, too.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
It’s a miracle I am still on here.
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
Get you a girl who can do both https://t.co/sw6j6Q0KHl
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) October 3, 2016
I guess famous enough to not have to put my entire resume since 8th grade in my bio https://t.co/fqVIdMFIRd
