Leah Remini on Speaking Out Against Scientology: ‘I’m Not a Big Fan of Bullies’
Leah Remini‘s new documentary called Scientology and the Aftermath premieres tomorrow on A&E. This morning, she appeared on NBC’s Today and spoke with Savannah Guthrie about her decision to speak out against the Church of Scientology, and why, after writing a book and participating in numerous television interviews, she keeps going.
“I felt I had a responsibility to help out where I could,” she said. “And I’m not a big fan of bullies, so it is part of who I am, and I was a fighter in the church. This is what they taught me, and so I’m going to continue my fight, but I’m on the right side of that fight now.”
Guthrie asked, “Who is this for?”
“It’s for the victims,” Remini answered. “It’s for the people who have spoken out, but it’s also for people who just, maybe don’t have the strength to fight, feel they don’t have a voice… I just want to give people strength, and it’s not just with this organization, but with any bully, and I just hope that’s what the message is.”
