In a new ad for a mobile service provider, Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams is facing a “stark” reality: “Being a teenager is hard enough. The last thing you need is the trauma of black spots.”
In this case, “black spots” are actually places without cell service. Of course, it’s easy to draw a parallel between mobile commercials and those for beauty products, and Three, a company in the U.K. ran with it.
Williams plays the part of someone struggling with acne, dark spots, or bags under her eyes perfectly. “There were times when I felt like the loneliest person alive,” she says at one point.
“But I found a way to take back control, thanks to 4G Supervoice from Three Mobile, my black spots are history.” Thank goodness.
In the background, a narrator says, “Once she had no friends. No stylist. By age 11, she still didn’t have a job.” But now, all her problems are solved.
Take that, beauty ads.
