West Village Restaurant Exposed 3000 Diners To Hepatitis A This Week

Those of you who may have visited Alta in the West Village between March 23rd and April 4th and opted the skip dessert? Congratulations! You’re not so much at risk for developing Hepatitis A. Those of you who did go for something sweet to end your meal? Rough luck.

A food handler at the pastry station tested positive for Hepatitis A and anyone who consumed a dessert is at risk for contracting it. The restaurant estimates that 3000 diners passed through Alta that week, with approximately 15% of them ordering dessert.

Anyone who thinks he or she might have been exposed is eligible for a Hep A vaccine at the Chelsea Health Center during the following times:

April 6 from 2pm to 6pm
April 7 from 2pm to 6pm
April 8 from 9am to 5pm

In the meantime, we’ll try to muster up the courage to eat out again sometime this year.
