While the working title of Anthony Bourdain and Nigella Lawson’s cooking competition series is still “New Cooking Show” (or, sometimes, “Exciting New Cooking Show), the as-of-yet unnamed series has already begun casting. Three open call audition dates have been listed in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and it looks like the audition process is similar to the MasterChef set-up.
Contestants are asked to bring a dish ready to be plated and served to their auditioners, without access to a kitchen to prep or warm their food for presentation. While the audition application stresses that you don’t have to be a professional chef to enter the competition, it also asks if you’ve ever done anything that would embarrass the Network, producers, hosts, etc. Ahem.
If you cannot attend a live audition, you are permitted to send in a video submission instead. This may be a preferable way to go since on the list of items you aren’t allowed to bring into the live auditions are: animals, air mattresses, tents, and chaise lounges. And we simply cannot fathom going anywhere without our chaise lounges.
