Warning: This story is not for the faint of heart. Or stomach.
A man from New Zealand proudly posted a photo of his eight year old daughter who he referred to as his “princess,” with her “first young deer stag.” He describes how she shot the deer, and then took a bite from “its warm quivering heart.” Below his post there was a picture of the whole thing.
The post was shared over 20,000 times, but the NZ Women’s Hunter’s page has been deleted because of the controversy. Johny, the father told Buzzfeed, “Chloe and I love our adventures together… Chloe has been coming hunting with me since she was eight months old on a front pack. This was her first deer. She has shot a goat, and been target shooting.” He also had several defenders on Facebook, saying that it’s a ritual.
Johny said, “I’d quote the saying, ‘Lions do not care of the opinions of sheep.’ She wanted to do it when she saw a picture of her uncle biting the heart of his first deer… We’re not too serious about it; it’s something some hunters do with the first kill. I wouldn’t say [it is] ritualistic, but she is a hunter now.”
