Look At This Insane Contract Amy’s Baking Company Made Their Employees Sign
Yes, yes, Amy and Samy Bouzaglo were soooo last month, but there’s still something so very compelling in their insanity, as we were reminded this morning when we saw a copy of the contract they made their employees sign. It’s so borderline illegal that for a brief moment, we felt a glimmer of admiration…until we realized that these practices are illegal for a reason.
Though the world learned about their policy of waiters handing over all their tips to the house through the magic of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Radar Online revealed that the Bouzaglos also demanded that the waiters and staff pay for all broken glasses and plates and burned food — a cost normally absorbed by the restaurant as “breakage” — and required their employees to work on holidays and weekends. If they didn’t, they were “monetarily penalized with a fee of $250.00.”
Also insane and unheard of: should any employee decide that they wanted to leave, they were not allowed to work for “any competitor within a 50 mile radius of ABC within one year of termination or voluntary resignation.”
