They say there’s ‘no such thing as a free lunch,’ but they never mentioned anything about linner, which just so happens to be one of our favorite meals of the day. Today, July 7th, in Washington Square Park, Snap Dog will be handing out free hot dogs from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
According to the company’s website, “the original ‘snap dog’ is 100% premium beef and has a natural casing which gives it a built-in ‘snap.'” Keith Dorman, who started the company after spending seven years as a restaurateur on Long Island told DNAinfo that he began making hot dogs because he “just noticed that a lot of foods that we grew up with as kids started to make a comeback in a makeover sort of fashion — grilled cheese sandwich, mac and cheese, cupcakes — even the hamburger.” He saw an open space for hot dogs, and he went with it.
They’re giving away hot dogs all over the city this summer, so keep your eyes and ears open. For today, head over to Washington Square Park for linner!
