We can’t escape the miracle berries anymore. Homaru Cantu has taken over the airwaves and is subjecting everyone to powdery tongue-confusion. Today on Good Morning America, he stopped by to demonstrate the sour-taste-receptor-blocking powers a spoonful of the miracle berry tablet powder holds. Serving a mouthful of the powder to diners at his restaurant ING before they eat foods seasoned with lemon and lime tricks them into thinking they’re tasting something sweeter than it really is. Thus, Cantu argues, you can significantly cut down on your sugar intake. Added bonus: you can swap out limes for oranges, which have more sugar and thus more calories.
