The New York Post has more on the lawsuit that rapper and business, maaaaaaan Jay-Z recently filed against his former personal chef Mike Shand, who cooked for him and Beyonce for years, and it appears that everybody’s angry over $1.5 million dollars worth of a secret spice mix for fried chicken wings.
According to a source, Shand was brought on to revamp Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club menu as part of a $10 million reopening effort, but then something unspecified happened that got everyone angry and then all of a sudden, Shand left the restaurant, “taking the recipes to popular menu items such as chicken wings, forcing the club to sue.”
Yelp reviews, the most trusted guide to gastronomic fare in da clubz, claim that the chicken wings range from “FN Great!!!” to “enh, alright,” and “okay but nothing different than get at any dive bar in the city,” while also noting that the cheap bastards at 40/40 will never honor the Foursquare deals that let you get wings for 1/2 off.
These are the chicken wings that are worth $1.5 million dollars, according to the suit.
“The spice-mix recipe that Mike developed is his own recipe. 40/40 terminated him, then had the audacity to sue him for his recipes,” said Shand’s lawyer, who clearly had Destiny’s Child stuck in his head, saying that when he’d left, the triflin’, good-for-nothin’-kinda-brother gave back all the recipes “apart from this spice mix because it is his own.”
