Jose Andrés and Gwyneth Paltrow’s Beef(steak)
Beefsteak, Jose Andrés‘ fast casual vegetable joint, which opened in Washington, D.C. in March of this year is expanding. They recently closed a round of funding, and Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the backers. The chainlet currently has three locations in D.C. and Philadelphia, and with the $9.75 million they raised in this round, we’re probably going to be seeing more of them sooner than later.
Things that are cool about this:
Everyone is trying to be healthy, and generally, vegetarian food sucks. No one wants to eat seitan (it’s not a coincidence that it’s almost exactly the same word as Satan, but more on that another time). We love the fast-casual trend, and this is vegetarian food which focuses on the vegetables, which makes for better tasting and better for you food. We’re hoping they expand to New York sooner than later- it would be great for the lunch game. We’d love to try it for ourselves.
Things that are decidedly less cool about this:
Eh, can’t worry too much about it. We’re just glad Andrés is able to expand, and that it definitely does not involve us going to a Trump hotel.
