This summer in London, singer Kelis will be launching a pop-up burger restaurant. This isn’t much of a surprise since her love of all things culinary is well-documented. In 2008, she enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu to become a certified chef, and even came out with a cookbook called My Life on a Plate: Recipes From Around the World. And, her latest album, which came out in 2014 is called Food, and includes songs with titles like “Breakfast” and “Jerk Chicken.”
NME is reporting that she’ll be launching the restaurant in collaboration with Le Bun, a different burger place, and it will be open July 6, 7, 13, and 14 at London’s Leicester House before moving on to Standon Calling Festival, where the artist will also be performing. In addition to hamburgers, the restaurant will serve South American arepa buns.
One thing that will likely not be on the menu? Milkshakes. In May, the singer who once claimed that her milkshake “brings all the boys to the yard” shocked the world with the admission that she’s never actually made a milkshake.
The singer-turned-chef told NME, “I’ve been looking forward to bringing my cooking to London for years. This July I’m over for lots of festivals and it’s the perfect time to finally make this pop up restaurant dream a reality. The Le Bun guys are the perfect partners and I can’t wait for everyone to have a taste.”
