Primetime Emmys were a bust for food shows this year, guys. No Reservations got smoked in its four creative categories by Frozen Planet. Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution got beat out for Outstanding Reality Program by Undercover Boss (really?), and Top Chef and Hell’s Kitchen were beat out in their respective categories, as well. Top Chef still has a shot on Sunday’s televised awards for Outstanding Reality — Competition. Fingers crossed for Padma and the gang.
Twitter: It’s Joe Bastianich’s birthday! Happy Birthday to our favorite cranky bald guy.
New York Magazine: NY Mag did a close reading of Guy’s American Kitchen and Bar menu, and, much like those passages of The Scarlet Letter you did close readings of in high school, purports that “T. S. Eliot, Hunter Thompson, and Sam Sifton could all find something to applaud” in Guy’s menu prose.
Eater: Gordon Ramsay Steak in Las Vegas is apparently so booked up with reservations that he’s opening a third resto on the strip. This one is set to be a burger joint called GR Burger, which will follow up Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill, opening at Caesar’s Palace at the end of this year. So, Hell’s Kitchen bears no signs of stopping then, eh?
Obama Foodorama: Last ever Dinner with Barack, you guys. Did a chill just go through your hearts?
BuzzFeed: What happens when The Most Interesting Man in the Word, the Old Spice Guy, and Clint Eastwood have a baby? He makes this wine ad.
