When he isn’t gravely chastising Justin Bieber in a borderline unsettling way, Mario Batali is apparently drawing inspiration from his The Chew co-host (Top Chef’s most notorious caterer) Carla Hall. Batali has reportedly teamed up with New York catering-goddess Mary Giuliani to kick off his own company, lovingly named Mario by Mary, which will “include both canapé-sized versions of classic Batali dishes and also the chef’s versions of classic canapés.”
The website (with zero information on pricing or menus or, in fact, information of any kind except for how to contact them — that’s how rich you have to be to hire Mario by Mary) coaxes, “Imagine the flavors, warmth, and fun of dinner at your favorite Batali restaurant in your own home or private event, executed with first class service and thoughtful presentation.”
Translation: Mario by Mary’s first clients will be a whole hot mess of Bridezillas and Long Island Princesses dying to show off all their parents’ money via their extravagant nuptials. (We’d include the ladies of My Fair Wedding, but ain’t no way David Tutera’s production budget can afford this.)
Enjoy your exquisite and bafflingly expensive wedding noms, ladies. Crashers: keep a keen eye out for Mario’s signature at the buffet.
