Well, you can’t say Danny Bowien didn’t try and you can’t say he wasn’t keeping himself busy. After being shut down by the Department of Health in November for a raging rat-tsunami, he posted a long list of concrete actions Mission Chinese was planning to take in an effort to achieve their final goal of eradicating the mouse problem. (We bet Danny Bowien is awesome at inspiration boards.)
In that time, he also opened Mission Cantina, his Mexican-inspired joint.
Mission Chinese never reopened, citing nearby construction as the reason for the persistent rat population. Danny tells Zagat that while he was planning to reopen in the original location, completing his list of steps is “so expensive” that he’s scoping out other Lower East Side locations to reopen.
We don’t care where Mission Chinese ends up, as long as the Laura Palmer bathroom stays.
