The Official Treme Cookbook Has Recipes From Emeril Lagasse And Susan Spicer
How awesome? According to the Times-Picayune, Treme: Stories and Recipes from the Heart of New Orleans is due in Spring of 2013, and will also be written from the perspective of Janette Desautel, a chef who is played by Kim Dickens.
Since so much of the show’s action revolves around the importance of food in New Orleans, “we had a lot of raw material for a really good book about New Orleans as filtered through our characters,” said Lolis Eric Elie, the book’s author and a consultant for the show.
As a result, “Desautel’s” book will incorporate recipes from prominent culinary figures and institutions in New Orleans whom she would have encountered in the world of Treme, like Emeril Lagasse and Susan Spicer. (Can we hope for Donald Link and a recipe for his braised pork cheeks? Please?) It will also include chapters dedicated to each of the main characters and their families, depicting what they would eat on an everyday basis.
Oh, and Anthony Bourdain is writing the foreword. That’s a pretty awesome lagniappe.
