Last night’s series finale of No Reservations rang a little spooky in light of Hurricane Sandy’s recent demolition of waterfront parts of Brooklyn. While Anthony Bourdain bid Travel Channel farewell with a Brooklyn tribute, two of the restaurants he visited — Sunny’s Bar in Red Hook and Randzzo’s Clam Bar in Sheepshead Bay — were partially or completely destroyed by the storm.
Although Sunny’s, a small bar, relatively unchanged since it first opened in the 1890s, looks like it will reopen next week, it took in two feet of water on the ground level, plus suffered a completely flooded basement.
Randazzo’s, an Italian-American joint where pasta is boiled to the point where it “can’t even remember what al dente means” (in the good, immigrant pride, Red Sauce Americana way), was completely destroyed.
Check out the clip below for one last hurrah.
