Padma Lakshmi continues to pursue her virtuous activism spree, on the heels of headlining NYU Faculty Against the Sexton Plan’s “Save The Village” fundraiser, with another New York cause benefiting homeless LGBTQ youth who have come to depend on the Ali Forney Center (AFC) for support.
AFC is throwing its annual “A Place at the Table” benefit dinner this Friday at Bowery spot Capitale, honoring Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund Vice-Chair Frank Selvaggi, transgender model and activist Isis King, and Room & Board Home Furnishings for its community partner outreach.
Hosting the festivities, all proceeds of which go towards benefiting the homeless LGBTQ youth AFC takes in, will be none other than Padma Lakshmi, in all her supermodel glory. Bonus: Daniel Radliffe’s trans-bombshell BFF Our Lady J will be the musical guest.
Needless to say, there probably be a lot of werq-ing for a good cause going down at Capitale on Friday night, so if you’re lucky enough to possess deeply charitable pockets, this pretty much sounds like the party of the weekend. Tickets start at $500, and, as with all Padma Lakshmi-hosted functions, are too fancy for us to afford.
