It looks like all that time Spike Mendelsohn spent in Philadelphia
chasing after hanging out with soulmate friend Jen Carroll during Life After Top Chef had an impact on the DC-based Top Chef All-Star. After a 20-month long planning process, he’s announced that he’ll soon be opening an outpost of his Good Stuff Eatery in which he will propose to Jen Carroll in Philly. Alas, our romantic hopes and dreams might be dashed, since Jen is already set to move to New York to open her restaurant Concrete Blonde in the West Village.
Spike tweeted yesterday that he was on the prowl for a 3000-square foot location downtown, telling Zagat, “We are eager to open up in Philadelphia and bring the Good Stuff to a new community of hungry burger lovers.” Good Stuff already has multiple locations in Washington, DC — the Capitol Hill one has been patronized by the POTUS, himself, and is, in fact, the home of The Obama Burger. Let’s hope the Philly opening gets under way with more than “a loose training session” for employees, lest Spike be hunted down by the Secret Service.
