That Jose Andrés Fast-Casual Concept Is Really Happening
Not to be outdone by Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson, Jose Andrés is moving forward with more financing for a new brand to open in 2015.
Nation’s Restaurant News reports on ThinkFoodGroup’s new CEO, Kimberly Grant, while nestling in some more juicy tidbits about that fast-casual concept we’ve all been waiting for. But, sadly, no one really knows what it will be; not even a Washington D.C. Craigslist ad could help us understand what it will be. Nevertheless, Andres is thinking big with whatever the new brand will be. “The increased equity financing by our group of investors represents a very gratifying vote of confidence in our mission as a company, to literally change the world through the power of food,” Andrés said in a press release.
The financing will be not only for the new brand, but also for expansion into new markets, says NRN. ThinkFoodGroup’s restaurants span from its home base in Washington D.C. to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, and Puerto Rico, so quick let’s all start speculating where that might be now. (Is New York City too much of a pipe dream to wish for?) Next up, though, is the Chinese-Peruvian restaurant called China Chilcano to open in downtown Washington D.C. later this year.
