The Brickell neighborhood in Miami is becoming a key dining destination according to this Miami Herald article, but it might become even hotter if the rumors from multiple industry insiders are true: His Holiness Thomas Keller has been looking at Miami real estate and may be opening a restaurant in Florida.
Of course, the Keller Restaurant Group has downplayed any suggestions while simultaneously stoking them: “While there have been discussions of possible opportunities in Miami, nothing has been finalized,” said spokesman Gerald San Jose to the Miami Herald. In PR talk, this means that we should probably be paying attention to Miami.
A Miami restaurant for the multi-starred Michelin chef really does make sense, though: Keller grew up in Florida and spent his formative years working in the kitchens of the Palm Beach Yacht Club, where he discovered his love of cooking. Miami’s restaurant scene, however, is more vibrant, and Keller would have a more impressive pool of talent to draw from.
