A ghost pepper measures in at about 1,000,000 Scoville units. For reference, a jalapeño is only about 3,000. When peppers are dried, they can taste even hotter because there’s no moisture to offset the heat. Pint-sized competitive eater Kate Ovens, admittedly is a “wuss” when it comes to spice, so naturally, she decides to eat a ghost pepper with two other people. Whoever drinks their milk first, loses, but really they all lose because they’ve just eaten ghost peppers.
