WATCH: Lidia Bastianich Loves America, And This PBS Documentary Is Proof

This trailer for patriot-fest Lidia Celebrates America: Freedom and Independence is the most PBS thing we’ve ever seen (churches in Harlem! Quaint New England towns with Revolutionary War re-enactors! A man with a fife! Jacques Pepin!). But since we love PBS with all our shriveled, black coal hearts, we sort of dig it.

Just in time for the Fourth of July, Lidia Bastianich’s documentary takes her around the country to see friends and family, taste food, and listen to that ever-soothing public television music that seems to only exist in the state of New Hampshire.

Lidia Celebrates America airs tonight at 10:00 PM EST on PBS, because sometimes, America does not need to be celebrated with fighter jets and explosions. (Though equally fun, that provenance is best left to her son Joe.)
