Buried in the middle of Nathan Myhrvold’s Google Talk about his new book Modernist Cuisine At Home (and after the nearly-heartbreaking story about how he sawed a Viking Range in half in order to photograph its innards) is a revelation: the chef and former Microsoft CTO might soon be bringing the $110 cookbook to a computer tablet.
At the moment, he explains, print is a better medium to bring his message to the world at large (e.g., people who use hardcover cookbooks, like home cooks and chefs). But should — and that’s a big should — Modernist Cuisine At Home be available as an app, it’s going to be a “really interactive version.” Granted, it would take a lot of work, but it would probably be an exciting, awesome app.
