WATCH: Roy Choi Talks About New Book LA Son, Uncle Tony Pops by for Visit

In this interview with Potluck Video, Roy Choi reveals why he wrote his first book LA Son, and why it’s part memoir and part recipes about cheesy ramen:

“My life is not typical. I had a vision like ‘Dark Side of The Moon,’ by Pink Floyd, which is one long-playing album. I wanted the recipes to be in the afterglow of the chapter, so you’re still in that suspended state of where the chapter hopefully took you. When you see the recipe, you connect to that space.”

(And yeah, Anthony Bourdain doesn’t say anything in this video at all. He just swoops in for three seconds, looks cool, gives Choi his imprimatur of coolness, and then, we dunno, disappears like a bat into the night, cool vibes in his wake.)
