Zohran Mamdani, the frontrunner in New York City’s mayoral race, found himself at the center of ridicule this weekend after his election rivals, Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo, scrambled to join in MAGA’s mocking of his bench press attempt.

Mamdani, the progressive Democratic nominee, was filmed attempting to lift 135 pounds during the Men’s Day open streets event in Brooklyn. The footage showed him pushing the bar twice as one of the organizers spotted him.

A clip of the mayoral hopeful went viral on X and was shared gleefully by heavyweight pro-Trump accounts, roasting his efforts:

Mayor Adams soon uploaded his own video from the same location in a side-by-side video with Mamdani, demonstrating multiple repetitions and mocking the self-described socialist as “Mamscrawny.”

In the rush to pile on, however, Adams’ campaign team originally overshot his age, posting that the mayor was “67” when he’s actually 64 years old, with his 65th birthday on Sept. 1. An amended tweet quickly replaced the swiftly deleted gaffe.

Cuomo, who lost the Democratic primary to Mamdani but is now running as an independent, also joined the fray. Quoting a report on the incident by the New York Post that sneered at Mamdani as having failed his lift, he blasted his rival as unable to “carry the weight of leading the most important city in the world.”

The former New York governor declared: “It’s easy to

talk, it’s hard to carry the burden … This guy can’t bench his own body weight.”

Notably, Cuomo didn’t share proof of his own bench press personal record.

Still, Mamdani, in a moment of sporting redemption, later traded iron for a soccer ball, easily kicking a ball into an inflatable dartboard to cheers from onlookers.
