Will Sunday finally be Rory McIlroy’s day at Augusta? An incredible shot on the 7th hole suggests the four-time major champion may finally score the green jacket that has long eluded him.
McIlroy, who was three shots clear of Bryson DeChambeau through six holes during the final round of The Masters, was faced with an incredibly tough second shot on the par-4 7th — as his ball was parked right behind several towering trees. But somehow, the 35-year-old golf great launched his ball over those trees from 153 yards out, and landed it less than 10 feet from the hole.
“Arnold Palmer would’ve been proud of this one,” said CBS commentator Frank Nobilo — as McIlroy wore an ear-to-ear smile while relishing his incredible shot.
Golf fans on social media were enthralled by the remarkable moment.
