The country singer responsible for the much-maligned national anthem at Monday’s Home Run Derby claimed she was drunk and will be getting treatment.
Ingrid Andress faced harsh scrutiny online for her rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner before the competition. To many, it conjured flashbacks of the bizarre rendition of the anthem performed by Fergie at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.
On Tuesday afternoon, Andress took to social media to apologize for the poor showing.
“I’m not gonna bullshit y’all, I was drunk last night,” Andress said in a statement. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is. I hear it’s super fun.”
The responses were, for the most part, supportive of her admitting to her problem.
