New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson called out Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton on Tuesday for the subtle shot Payton took at the QB in the media.
Last Sunday, the Broncos pulled off a stunning comeback win over the Giants when the team scored an improbable 33 points in the fourth quarter to overcome a 19-point deficit. The Giants were led by rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who replaced Wilson as the team’s starter after just three games.
During his post-game press conference, Payton praised the rookie QB while also taking a shot at the man he replaced when he said:

On Tuesday, Wilson — who’s avoided any form of controversy throughout the majority of his career — apparently had enough of Payton’s words.
“Classless… but not surprised…,” Wilson tweeted. “Didn’t realize you’re still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the media. #LetsRide.”
Wilson took his own shot with the reference to “bounty hunting.” In 2012, the NFL announced it had found evidence of a “bounty program” within the New Orleans Saints organization. At the time, Payton was still the head coach of the team. According to those findings, players were given cash rewards for deliberately knocking opposing players out of games. Payton was suspended for the entire 2012 season.
