Tucker Carlson Says He Wouldn’t Interview ‘Pathetic’ Jon Stewart After Crossfire Beatdown: ‘I Have So Much Contempt For Him’

Tucker Carlson revealed he would never sit down with comedian Jon Stewart because he has “so much contempt for him” following their CNN showdown decades ago.
From 2001-2005, Carlson was the co-host of Crossfire, CNN’s primetime news debate program, until he was fired shortly before the show’s cancellation. The program’s downfall has been attributed to Stewart’s viral 2004 appearance where he railed against the network and Carlson for providing harmful discourse and being biased against the left.
During a podcast interview released on Thursday with media personality Patrick Bet-David, Carlson dismissed the idea of sitting down on camera with Stewart. Bet-David noted it would be “a very interesting podcast” and that “the world would watch it.”
Carlson added that he is willing to sit down with people he disagrees with such as Chris Cuomo, but he would refuse interview Stewart because he has “no respect” for him.
BET-DAVID: Well, you know, and then Jon Stewart…by the way, that would be a very good, interesting, podcast if you would do it —
CARLSON: He’s just so pathetic I don’t know. Yeah, it would be interesting. I want to be a good sport about it.
BET-DAVID: I think the world would watch it.
CARLSON: Yeah. I mean, the world would watch all kinds of ugly things, but I just try to think — I know I have such contempt for him. I guess maybe that would make it hard. I like interviewing people. I disagree with Chris Cuomo, I interviewed, and you know, I totally disagree with Chris Cuomo on so much, and I made fun of him so much. I’ve been really mean to him. But I don’t have contempt for Chris Cuomo at all, actually. But Jon Stewart, I have total contempt for him. I have no respect at all and I never have. And that hasn’t changed in the 20 years since I last saw him. Have you ever interviewed someone you have no respect for at all?
BET-DAVID; Of course.
CARLSON: It’s hard.
BET-DAVID: Of course it is.
CARLSON: I don’t like it.
BET-DAVID: It’s not easy.
CARLSON: It’s like I don’t give a shit what you say. I mean, you’re pathetic. It’s not even your real name. Like, everything about you is fake. You’re just fake. And you’re kind of a dumb person posing as a smart person.
Patrick Bet-David asks Tucker if he’d ever have Jon Stewart on his show.
