Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin Reports on ‘Gut-Wrenching’ Attacks in Kabul: ‘Safe to Assume’ Evacuation Will Now Enter Its ‘Final Phase’
Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin reportedly a high likelihood that the United States will expedite evacuations of Americans and U.S. allies from Afghanistan following the explosion at Kabul’s airport.
Griffin beamed into America’s Newsroom on Thursday to describe the frantic efforts to gather details on the explosion, which comes as the U.S. is still trying to fly hordes of people out of the country. As she broke down reports about the explosion, Bill Hemmer asked Griffin whether this will impact the U.S.’ withdrawal from the country.
“I think it’s very clear, once an attack like this took place it would speed up the timeline,” Griffin said. “I would guarantee you that all the gates are closed to the Kabul airport. Those who are inside the airport will be evacuated and they will begin drawing down troops.”
Griffin added her assessment that by having the U.S. Military work against the August 31st deadline for their withdrawal from Afghanistan, “it puts a target, a bull’s-eye on the U.S. Military as others as they try to evacuate.”
“It think its safe to assume this is moving into the final phase of the evacuation,” Griffin said. “Sadly, many people will be left out, will not be able to come through those gates, and there will be many deserving people who are on the other side of the gates we’ve been talking to them overnight.”
Griffin concluded her report by remaking on the “gut-wrenching” situation in Kabul, and “it’s heartbreaking to think of the people who are caught outside the gates, who are deserving of being able to leave.”
Griffin’s segment comes after CNN reported that the U.S. government was going to try wrapping up evacuations from Afghanistan in the next 36 hours. The Pentagon has denied a 36 hour cutoff to evacuations, and the explosion at Kabul airport may have considerable ramifications for the U.S.’ withdrawal by the end of the month.
