Fox’s Bret Baier Presents List of Ken Paxton Legal Scandals to His Face: ‘It’s a Long List Here’

Fox News anchor Bret Baier presented viewers with a “long list” of Texas Senate hopeful Ken Paxton’s (R) legal scandals in a series of graphics on Thursday night — with Paxton sitting right beside him.

Broadcasting live from President Donald Trump’s midterm election convention in Dallas on Special Report, Baier mentioned how Paxton’s opponent, James Talarico (D), often touches on corruption and legal woes that have dogged Paxton since the primaries.

“He goes down a list of legal troubles you’ve had,” Baier tells Paxton.

Then, putting on his glasses, Baier added: “Just putting them on the screen here, just so everybody can see.”

What follows is a series of graphics, read aloud by Baier:

There was an indictment on security fraud charges in 2015. Charges drops after reaching a pre-trial agreement. Federal fraud charges announced in 2016. Federal judge dismisses that case in 2017. Accused by staff members in 2020 of accepting bribes and abusing power. Impeached by the Republican Texas House over accusations of misuse of power. Acquitted by the Texas State Senate of the impeachment articles and ordered to pay four former employees 6.6 million in 2025 for violating Texas Whistleblower Act.

“I mean, it’s a long list here,” Baier said. “But, as you look at that and you talk to voters who may be concerned about this, watching these commercials, what do you say?”

Paxton replied: “Well, look, when you’re fighting, they come after you. Look at Donald Trump. He had many more indictments than I did. He had two impeachments. I went through a very similar process as him. When you go after things that protect the people of your state, they come after you. And none of those things were proven. They all, if you’ll notice, they were all dismissed or they’re gone.”

Trump urged Texas voters to support Paxton during his address to the convention on Wednesday night, but then went off on a tangent poking fun at Paxton’s looks and the way he talks.
