The event was part of the university’s convocation, which meant all students were required to attend. Paul said those students made it clear that just because they were forced to be there does not mean they were expressing support for Cruz’s candidacy.
On Cruz’s remarks, Paul said he was “traveling and busy” today but couldn’t find much to disagree with. Paul said he and Cruz come from the “same wing” of the Republican Party and have similar voting records.
“I guess what makes us different is probably our approach as to how we would make the party bigger,” Paul said, seemingly criticizing Cruz for “throwing out red meat,” rather than his personal approach of putting
Kelly also asked Paul if he can stand up to criticism from the mainstream media, to which Paul said the key to winning is attacking former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her “corruption” and “hypocrisy.”
Paul said there is “some type of announcement” on his potential candidacy coming on April 7th.
