Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) claimed to stand with “Jewish peace advocates” in a statement slamming a proposed resolution to censure her as “Islamophobic” on Thursday.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (D-GA) introduced the resolution “censuring Representative Rashida Tlaib for anti-Semitic activity, sympathizing with terrorist organizations, and leading an insurrection at the United States Capitol complex” earlier in the day as a punishment for Tlaib’s virulently anti-Israel rhetoric and for her participation in an October 18 demonstration at the Capitol.

Tlaib responded to the resolution by invoking Jews in her defense.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene’s unhinged resolution is deeply Islamophobic and attacks against peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates,” began Tlaib. She continued:

I am proud to stand in solidarity with Jewish peace advocates calling for a ceasefire and an end to violence. I will not be bullied, I will not be dehumanized, and I will not be silenced. I will continue to call for a ceasefire, for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, for the release of hostages and those arbitrarily detained,

and for every American to be brought home. I will continued to work for a just and lasting peace that upholds the human rights and dignity of all people, and ensures that no person, no child has to suffer or live in fear of violence.

Tlaib has repeatedly claimed that Israel was responsible for an explosion at a hospital in Gaza last week without citing any evidence and has been rebuked by the White House for her rhetoric since the October 7 terrorist attack.

After Tlaib and  Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) released statements in the aftermath of the attack implying that there was a moral equivalency between Israel and Hamas, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called their words “wrong,” “repugnant,” and “disgraceful.”
