9/11 Mastermind’s Image Used in Ads for Hair Removal
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is known as an international terrorist, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, and a hairy sonofabitch who could just solve his problems if he just used some hair removal product.
According to Hurriyet Daily News, the ad features the infamous photo of Mohammed’s capture (above), along with the captions in Turkish, “Waiting won’t get rid of that hair!” or, more literally, “The hair will not go away because you keep waiting!”
“We didn’t know that he was a terrorist,” company representative Mehmet Can Yildiz told the Hurriyet Daily News after the story went viral. “The guy is quite hairy, so we thought his body was a good fit for our ad.”
“We didn’t want to imply anything political. We didn’t know that it could become an international story. I repeat: We featured him for his hair, not terrorism,” Yildiz added, saying that he found Mohammed’s bear hide on a 4chan-esque image site.
Mohammed, whose grossly hairy body was discovered in 2003 when he was captured in Pakistan, is currently being held in Guantanamo Bay awaiting trial. If convicted, he faces the death penalty. (We are sincerely shocked that the CIA hasn’t considered full-body waxing as a form of enhanced interrogation.)
