Actress Rose McGowan: Caitlyn Jenner Has No Idea What It Means To Be a Woman
The impetus for the post appears to be a Buzzfeed interview in which Jenner said, “The hardest part about being a woman is figuring out what to wear.” In response, McGowan posted several images of women who were victims of domestic abuse and rape.
“You’re a woman now? Well fucking learn that we have had a VERY different experience than your life of male privilege. Woman of the year? No, not until you wake up and join the fight,” McGowan wrote.
“Being a woman comes with a lot of baggage,” she continued. “The weight of unequal history. You’d do well to learn it. You’d do well to wake up. Woman of the year? Not by along [sic] fucking shot.”
McGowan edited the post after the fact to add that “I’m happy for what she’s doing visibility wise for the trans community, and I’m happy she’s living her truth.” But she still maintained that “comments like hers have consequences for other women.”
