Newt Gingrich seems to be walking back his recent comments after Donald Trump seemed to throw subtle shade at him on Twitter.
Earlier this week, Gingrich said in an interview that Trump wasn’t interested in the phrase anymore, even though it was one of his biggest rallying cries during the election. The former House Speaker’s remarks drew significant intrigue, which Trump decided to address today on Twitter.

“I wanna report that I made a big boo-boo,” Gingrich said. He went on to say that Trump still likes the phrase, that he still intends to act on it, and the “alligators” in the swamp ought to be worried.
Earlier this morning, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said that draining the swamp was “probably somewhere down the bottom,” on Trump’s list of things to do as president.
