Al Franken Accuses Jeff Sessions of Perjury: ‘I Think He Did Not Answer Truthfully Under Oath’

Back in March, Senator Al Franken (D-MN) said on CNN that “It’s hard to come to any other conclusion that (sic) [Attorney General Jeff Sessions] perjured himself.”

Friday on Meet The Press Daily, the Minnesota Senator went even further.

“I think he did not answer truthfully under oath,” Franken said.

“You think he lied to Congress?” asked host Chuck Todd.

“Yeah, I think he did,” Franken replied.

Todd also put Franken on the spot about his rumored 2020 Presidential ambitions. Franken said he’s not interested in the job. He also speculated that people have thrown his name in the mix because he and Trump are both considered “entertainers.” Franken objects to being put in the same category with Trump.

“He was on a reality show,” said the former Saturday Night Live comedian. He added that he believes Trump has “devalued the presidency.”
