Alexandra Pelosi on Mother Nancy: ‘She’ll Cut Your Head Off, and You Won’t Even Know You’re Bleeding’

Alexandra Pelosi — the documentary filmmaker and political reporter — was hesitant, Wednesday, to talk about her mother, House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). But when she finally relented, her answer was… candid.

Appearing on CNN’s New Day, the younger Pelosi provided a blunt assessment of her mother — who will almost certainly become Speaker of the House shortly after the 116th Congress convenes on Thursday.

“She’ll cut your head off and you won’t even know you’re bleeding,” Pelosi said. “That’s all you need to know about her.

That kind of toughness, according to Alexandra Pelosi, has been necessary in order for her mother to retain her leadership position through multiple administrations.

“No one ever won betting against Nancy Pelosi,” the filmmaker said, “She’s persevered. You’ve got to give her credit. No matter what you think of her, you have to give her credit. Because, think about it. Think about all those presidents she’s endured, right? The Bushes, the Clintons. She’s been through it all. She’s been around. This is not her first rodeo, as your friend George Bush would say. She knows what she’s doing.”
