Ali Velshi Accidentally Tweets Panic-Inducing Info About Empire State Building Shooting

As anyone keeping track of the coverage of this summer’s myriad shocking news cycles can readily tell you, sometimes, when trying to get breaking information out fast, mistakes happen. Just ask CNN’s Ali Velshi, who spent a good chunk of time apologizing to his Twitter followers after he Tweeted that this morning’s shooting at the Empire State Building had a terrorist connection.

Velshi deleted the Tweet soon after, but Buzzfeed nabbed a screenshot:

He then Tweeted a correction:

…And then dealt with the resulting fallout.

He also agreed with one Twitter follower who felt Velshi’s mistake was part of a larger problem:
