Amazon Backs Ted Cruz over NY Times: ‘No Evidence’ of Bulk Sales
Online retailer Amazon agreed with Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz‘s version of events in his feud with The New York Times, saying there was no evidence that bulk purchases were pushing up his book sale numbers.
“As of yesterday, ‘A Time for Truth’ was the number 13 bestselling book, and there is no evidence of unusual bulk purchase activity in our sales data,” Amazon said in a statement to Politico’s Dylan Byers, who first broke the story of Cruz’s exclusion.
The Times’ newest bestsellers list has continued to exclude Cruz’s newest book “A Time for Truth,” keeping with their allegation last week that Cruz was making “strategic bulk purchases.” In the aftermath of that revelation, the Cruz campaign and his publisher HarperCollins pushed back strongly, saying there was no evidence of any bulk purchases.
Other bestseller’s lists such as Nielsen’s and The Wall Street Journal’s have also included Cruz’s book in its bestsellers list, despite usually excluding books with evidence of bulk sales.
