Ana Navarro Tears Into Trump Over Puerto Rico Tweets: Stupid, Insensitive, and Offensive
President Donald Trump is receiving backlash over his false claim that Hurricane Maria’s death toll was inflated by Democrats for political purposes, the latest condemnation coming from Ana Navarro.
The CNN commentator delivered a scathing rebuke of the Trump’s remarks Thursday, calling out the commander in chief’s spin on the facts.
“How stupid, how tone deaf, how surreal, how insensitive, how offensive, how offensive to the relatives of 3,0000 people who died in Puerto Rico Just how wrong in every single way — morally, politically,” Navarro told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “How can this be coming from the president of the United States?”
That morning, Trump took to Twitter to slam the left for what he argued was politicization of the disaster, contending that “3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico, adding, “When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths.”
Not only did Navarro feel the remarks were immoral, she noted they wouldn’t do much to help Trump curry favor in Florida, stating “he’s doing harm even to his political allies” ahead of the midterm elections.
Wrapping up her fiery speech, Navarro warned Florida’s Puerto Ricans could “make or break statewide elections,” and reminded voters of the registration deadline, telling them to “just do it.”
