Anonymous students at Columbia University have been scribbling lists of alleged rapists on campus bathrooms, as well as sending out flyers with the same names on it. Four names were placed on the list, but according to the Columbia Daily Spectator, it’s not been confirmed that those individuals actually committed sexual assault or if any action has been taken against them by the school.
The university quickly took the lists down from the at least four bathroom stalls the list was printed in. And flyers were distributed in a number of bathrooms as well with the same list of people.
In a statement, the university said, “To avoid chilling complainants from coming forward and to respect all parties involved, the University does not comment on the particulars of disciplinary proceedings regarding sexual misconduct… These laws and our constitutional values do not permit us to silence debate on the difficult issues being discussed.”
