A German Member of Parliament was given a sweet surprise while presenting her immigration stance this weekend, though it definitely wasn’t a pleasant one.
Sahra Wagenknecht, Parliamentary Co-Leader of the Left Party, was speaking in Magdeburg on Saturday about the necessity of Germany placing limits on the number of refugees allowed into the country. In an apparent sign of deep disagreement, a protestor walked up to Wagenknecht in the middle of the meeting, and shoved a chocolate cake in her face.
The Anti-Fascist Initiative took responsibility for the act, and they also distributed flyers saying it was part of their “Cake for Misanthropists” campaign. The flyers took aim at Wagenknecht’s position on refugees, apparently since she takes a harder line against immigration than many members of her party.
