AP: Trump Has Been Telling World Leaders to Call Him Directly on His Cell Phone

This evening, we got yet another bombshell report as it relates to the White House and President Donald Trump. In this instance, the story isn’t directly tied to the Russia probe, like most of the other blockbusters we’ve seen in recent weeks. But it does relate to Trump’s handling of foreign affairs.

According to the Associated Press, the president has been giving his cellphone number to various world leaders and telling them they can call him directly. As the report noted, this is a break in protocol and raises concerns over security and secrecy surrounding Trump’s communications.

Per current and former American officials, Trump asked the Canadian and Mexican leaders to ring him up on his cell. Canadian Prime Minister had already taken Trump up on the offer. A French official also told the AP that Trump and new French President Emmanual Macron exchanged numbers.

This revelation comes on the heels of reports that Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor, Jared Kushner, attempted to create a secret communications channel with the Russians during the presidential transition.

The White House did not respond to the AP when asked if Trump was keeping records of his cellphone conversations with world leaders.
