Eric Holder‘s official portrait was unveiled today ahead of his impending departure as attorney general, but he got quite the tribute today, when surprise musical guest Aretha Franklin showed up to serenade him, President Obama, and the entire crowd assembled at the unveiling.
Franklin, who actually fist-bumped the President of the United States, first sang a beautiful rendition of “America the Beautiful” before addressing the man of the hour.
Franklin said, “We appreciate you, we love you, and God bless and keep you as you go forward in all of your endeavors.”
And then, Franklin proceeded to sing about Holder and about how he’s been a “champion” and “warrior” for Americans.
